The Office of Admission at Whittier College is seeking an Associate Director of Admission.
Reporting to the Director of Admission, the Associate Director of Admission is an administrative position in the Office of Admission that will be responsible for helping provide leadership and direction. They will support the Director of Admission in all strategic planning related to policies, practices, and procedures for the Office of Admission. This position will be responsible for direct supervision of one or two Undergraduate Admission Counselors and one Campus Visit Coordinator. The position may involve training of newly hired, entry-level staff. The Associate Director of Admission will also maintain all traditional admission counselor and territory management duties, including application reading, serving as counselor of the day, and recruitment travel.
This position is located in Whittier, CA. It is a fully on-campus position with frequent local travel and moderate regional and national travel. This position requires some evening and weekend work.

Salary Range: $72,000-$77,250 annually; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a proxy for the Director of Admission as assigned
Supervision of professional staff (one or two admission counselors, one visit coordinator)
Manages assigned recruitment territories. Represents Whittier College at regional events, high school visits, college fairs, community events, and special events.
Assists with planning, implementation, and monitoring of recruitment strategies and their success
Plan, execute, and assist with first year and transfer admission events, including fall open houses and spring admitted student events
Develop partnerships and programs with high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations to build new first-year and transfer student pipelines
Creates and runs new staff training program and supports day-to-day functions of the Admission Office
Works collaboratively and serves as a liaison to other departments on campus, including academic offices, athletic offices, and financial aid.
Counsel prospective students on all aspects of the admission process, including application and financial aid support
Support all on-campus/virtual efforts by leading on-campus/virtual information sessions, fielding phone calls, responding to emails, welcoming walk-in visitors, answering general inquiries, and leading campus tours as necessary
Maintains high level of knowledge and awareness of higher education trends and college policies

Position Specifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
At least 3-4 years of admission experience required. Supervisory experience over professional or student staff strongly preferred. Experience in coalition-building is strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, public speaking, and networking skills
Soft skills essential to this position are resourcefulness, proactiveness, tenacity, and persistence
To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess initiative, strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work both independently and as a team with colleagues within their division and across the College
Ability to demonstrate awareness in issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion and the embodiment of these values.
Ability to work with and respond to the needs of multiple constituencies including prospective students and families, faculty, staff, and student staff.
Working knowledge of Slate CRM is preferred.
Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required.
