Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission plays a key leadership role in managing and executing essential functions related to the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of undergraduate students across the Hilltop and branch campuses. This position oversees major functional areas including first-year and transfer recruitment, data analysis and reporting, and coordination of USF’s outreach efforts to nonprofits and community-based organizations.
As the primary liaison for partnerships with key nonprofits and federally or state-sponsored pre-college programs, the Assistant Director leads efforts to expand college access for underrepresented student populations. They provide critical guidance to students and families affiliated with these organizations, offering expertise in college preparation, the admission process, and financial literacy.
In this role, the Assistant Director takes primary responsibility for the outreach, recruitment, admission, and enrollment of both first-year and transfer students. This includes evaluating applications, making admission decisions, and managing strategic programs that align with the University’s enrollment and academic objectives. Reporting to the Director of First-Year Admission and working collaboratively with the admission team, the Assistant Director is committed to delivering an exceptional student experience while advancing institutional enrollment goals.
Key responsibilities include leading the office’s outreach efforts to external organizations and providing essential support for the Black Scholars Program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents the University in a variety of settings both on-campus and throughout the country
- Selects, schedules, and coordinates high school, community college, and college fair visits to recruit prospective students
- Communicate with students, faculty, staff, and alumni to recruit qualified students to USF
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with appropriate counselors, administrative, and teacher contacts at high schools and community colleges
- Counsel prospective students and families about admission, transfer credit, financial aid, academic programs, and student life at USF
- Reviews admission files, determines eligibility, decides which applicants are qualified for admission to USF and makes admission decisions
- Assesses and analyzes data driven results of recruitment and yield efforts and then develops and implements appropriate changes based on the analysis
- Utilizes data service and market analysis tools to plan recruitment and yield strategy
- Expand and manage relationships with local nonprofits and community-based organizations (e.g., First Graduate, College Track, KIPP, Cristo Rey Network, Making Waves, ScholarMatch) to create pipelines for diverse student enrollment.
- Campus Collaboration: Partner with student services, university life, and other departments to host events for prospective students, key stakeholders, and cultural organizations.
- Assist in the preparation and enrollment process for Honors College and Getty Fellowship candidates.
- Ensures the development of best practices not only related to the major functional areas but also to all admissions related functions.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree with three or more years in admissions or related experience required
- Ability to travel 20% of the year
- Demonstrated public speaking experience and excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with Slate Technolutions reporting and query building
- Proven ability to successfully plan, prioritize, and multitask and to work with minimal supervision and to follow through and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, diverse, and team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Advanced computer/technical proficiency
- Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends
- Understanding of and commitment to USF’s Vision, Mission and Values in creating a learning environment that nurtures among students the faith that does justice
- Bilingual is a plus
