Department Summary
The Office of Admissions includes over 50 staff engaged in recruitment and outreach to prospective undergraduates. Admissions staff make admission decisions on all applicants for freshman, transfer, and post-baccalaureate undergraduate admission. Admissions is a unit of the Division of Student Services & Enrollment Management and works closely with several other units of that division, especially Scholarships/Financial Aid and Orientation, as well as many other parts of campus.
Position Summary
Representing the University of Oregon and the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management, regional admissions counselors serve as vital liaisons of the university in their respective regions. Regionals play a crucial role in connecting with and attracting prospective students to UO. They primarily work in the state/region they reside in, fostering relationships with local communities and educational institutions to identify and engage with prospective students and their families. Regionals work to build relationships with local high schools, community colleges, community-based organizations, youth organizations, and other local organizations that have a focus on secondary and post-secondary education. The goal is not only to recruit, but to provide students with confidence and knowledge, and build a college-going culture that exposes students to their options post-high school.
Residing in Los Angeles County, California, this Southern California Regional Admissions Counselor position will be responsible for managing recruitment efforts in their assigned territories – including their primary market, Los Angeles County; other parts of California; and other states that require significant travel.
Position Expectations:
• The selected individual is required to live in Los Angeles County.
• This position is based out of a home office and requires the selected individual to have functional home office space.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain UO Driver Certification are required.
• Work hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm in the regionally based employee’s time zone, plus significant nights and weekends, particularly during the fall and spring.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
• One year of professional experience in higher education admissions recruitment
Salary: $68,640 – $70,304 per year
