The Assistant Director plays a critical role and is responsible for developing strategic recruitment initiatives, implementing innovative programs and efforts specifically tailored for the Pacific Islander community to increase applications, admission competitiveness, and enrollment of Pacific Islander students. In support of Undergraduate Admission efforts to meet annual new student recruitment and enrollment goals, the Assistant Director engages with prospective Pacific Islander students and their families to promote the university and attract talented individuals from this demographic.

The Assistant Director serves as the liaison between UA and the Pacific Islander community participating in a variety of recruitment events, including high school/community college visits, college fairs, community outreach programs, community-based organizations (CBO) events, campus visits and conferences targeting Pacific Islander students providing information, guidance and support throughout the admission process. The Assistant Director is responsible for recruitment and engagement by developing relationships with high schools/community colleges counselors/administrators, community-based organizations and UCLA staff including but not limited to Asian American Studies Center, Native American and Pacific Islander Bruins Rising Initiative, Pacific Islander Student Association (PISA) and Pacific Islander Education and Retention (PIER). This position collaborates with admission staff, specifically the Assistant Director, African American Recruitment, and Assistant Director, Native American Recruitment to develop and implement programming aimed at increasing the representation of Pacific Islander students.
