The Admissions Officer (AO), under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions, plays a pivotal role in the admissions process for domestic and international applicants. Responsibilities include independently reviewing applications, evaluating academic records, and determining admissions eligibility based on established guidelines. The AO engages in extensive travel for recruitment activities, develops recruitment plans, and utilizes a CRM system to connect with and track engagements with prospective students. They provide detailed information about UC San Diego’s educational offerings and admission requirements through various platforms, including school visits, workshops, and college fairs. Additionally, the AO maintains relationships with counselors and community organizations to enhance enrollment efforts and conducts training sessions on admissions policies. An AO’s evaluation duties involve assessing academic transcripts from domestic and foreign institutions, conducting course-by-course evaluations, and validating student records for admission purposes. The AO also participates in admissions committees, special projects, and training initiatives, contributing to the overall admissions operations and student recruitment goals at UC San Diego.
