Enrollment Management (EM) is a multi-unit department within the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor-Academic Affairs. The department is led by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management (AVC EM), who serves as the Chief Enrollment Officer and Chief Outreach Officer of the University. EM comprises multiple high-profile, core functional units including: the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid & Scholarships Office, Enrollment Management Technology Services (EMTS), Cal-SOAP, Creative Services, Enrollment Analytics, and the Business Office. We work to advance the academic and public service missions of UC San Diego by ensuring equitable access to education and empowering students throughout their educational journeys.

The Office of Admissions leads the university’s efforts to identify, recruit, admit and enroll the next generation of UC San Diego Tritons with particular focus on talented, academically capable, California students, representative of the diversity of the people of California. The mission of the office includes increasing the visibility of UC San Diego in California, the nation and world, through marketing and on- and off- campus recruitment activities to prospective first-year and transfer students and their families; school counselors; community college leaders and advisors; community based organizations; and educational organizations serving groups historically underrepresented on our campus. The Office of Admissions hosts more than 80,000 visitors and receives, processes, and reviews over 150,000 applications for admission annually. The office works collaboratively with on-and off- campus partners to achieve university goals.

The Admissions Officer (AO) works in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-demand office, which receives in excess of 150,000 applications annually and is engaged in a highly selective admissions process each year. The AO is responsible for outreach, recruitment, reviewing freshmen and transfer applications, admitted student yield, relations with schools and community and family outreach. The position requires professionalism, skills in presenting information, attention to detail, the ability to collaborate – working in teams, and flexibility. Under the general supervision of the Admissions Leadership Team, the AO identifies potential students, and provides information on a variety of admissions-related issues to the general public including, but not limited to: prospective applicants, parents, counselors, community-based organizations, faculty and campus colleagues. The AO fosters and maintains good working relationships with the public and institutions and organizations involved in outreach recruitment, as well as serves as a resource to the external community, such as high school and community college counselors, representatives from other universities and UC San Diego advisors and administrators.
