PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Strategies and Operations (DESO), the Senior Assistant Director of Admission is responsible for supporting admission recruitment, outreach, and application review, as well as support of the DESO in the CRM (Slate) development, maintenance, and staff training. This position is campus-based and may include some remote work. Applications will be reviewed after October 1, 2024.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Represent the College both on and off-campus to prospective students, families, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
- Advise prospective applicants on the Scripps College application process, academic experience, and opportunities through virtual and in-person information sessions, virtual and in-person interviews, webinars, college fairs, high school visits, phone calls, and emails.
- Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories, including up to 5 weeks of travel.
- Instruct, empower, and support colleagues in using Slate by coordinating staff development and training, and by creating and maintaining documentation in collaboration with the DESO.
- Support the DESO with maintenance, modifications, and implementation of solutions to maximize the use of and adhere to best practices for Technolutions’ Slate CRM.
- Efficiently execute key aspects of Slate, including but not limited to leveraging configurable joins querying throughout the database; producing effective reports for leadership and admission staff; designing workflows; constructing event forms, event templates, and portals; and ensuring data integrity.
- Serve as the Slate captain in the absence of the DESO.
- Review on average 600 applications submitted by applicants for admission decisions and participate in admission selection committees.
- Contribute to and support the success of various programs designed to recruit prospective students by collaborating with a wide variety of departments and offices.
- Enhance job knowledge through ongoing professional development, including participation in educational opportunities, engagement with industry publications, networking, and involvement in professional organizations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Ability to independently perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects.
- Exceptional public speaking and written communication skills including editorial and proofreading skills, strong command of the English language (grammar and spelling).

- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment at all times
- Ability to manage confidential information pertaining to application review or other admission initiatives
- Willingness to see tasks to completion, sometimes necessitating working longer than normal hours or on weekends
- Ability to utilize technology to enhance productivity. This includes proficiency with computers, databases, data entry techniques, internet research, and Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Familiarity with Technolutions Slate or other databases/CRMs preferred
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Slate Configurable Joins, and/or SQL preferred
- Ability to travel
- Understanding of the mission of a liberal arts college
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability to perform the job.
At least 4 years of admission experience is required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:
Must have the ability to safely drive as needed; the candidate’s DMV record must meet the College automobile liability insurance company’s requirements.
HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:
This is a regular status, full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits-eligible position.
The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Hours may vary and include night and weekends based on needs of the College or Department.
Salary rate range: $78,000-$81,500 (annualized). The salary rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
