The Transition and Success Coach is designed to improve retention of incoming traditional undergraduate students from the time of their tuition deposit through their first year at MSMU. By engaging in proactive and regular outreach to new students, the Coach will connect them to available campus resources to ensure a strong start at MSMU. This foundation will set students up for long-term success, with the ultimate goal being timely graduation.

Work Location: Both Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles)

Start Date:  Immediately

Expected End Date: August 31, 2026

Position Hourly Range: $18.89 – $21.00

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engages with deposited traditional undergraduate students in person and via phone, email and text to ensure they are progressing through the necessary clearance steps for the start of the upcoming semester. These include FAFSA submission, acceptance of financial aid offers, taking placement tests, meeting with the academic advisor and registering for courses, submitting health forms and immunization records, submitting housing deposit/application if planning to live on campus, attending Orientation programs, setting up a payment plan or otherwise settle their student account, and any other required items to be cleared by the first day of class.
  • Provides 1:1 and small group coaching to students
  • Tracks all interactions with students in CRM to allow for continuous support, tracking and reporting
  • Under the direction of the Assistant VP for Enrollment, will work closely with Student Care, Student Accounts, Academic Advisement, Financial Aid and other offices to identify students needing support throughout their first year and assist them with completing enrollment processes and identifying appropriate campus resources (e.g. tutoring, peer mentors, mental health resources, etc.)
  • Collaborates with Director of Student Success & Retention, Student Affairs, Academic Advisement, faculty mentors, Academic Support Center and other areas as needed for programming and activities
  • Plans and supports relevant admission, orientation and academic events throughout the year
  • Meets regularly with and provides updates to First-Year Seminar directors. Identify significant areas for improvement and collaborate to improve services
  • Collaborates with Title V Student Success Team, OIT, Student Affairs, and others as needed to assess data from student alert systems for ongoing improvement of student services and support
  • Performs other duties as assigned
