Position Overview

The Associate Director of College Counseling reports to the Director of College Counseling and will help support the college counseling department in all aspects of college guidance and related activities. He or she will work as part of the college counseling team on the following activities:

Primary Responsibilities

● Guide students and their families through the college application and selection
process, including helping students build college lists, advising students
regarding their applications, serving as a knowledgeable and passionate
advocate, and helping students and families find good college matches;
● Researching, collecting and disseminating to school leadership, faculty, students,
and families the most up-to-date information regarding the college application
● Communication (website, newsletters, emails) to High School families in grades
11 and 12 about the college application process and to families in grades 9 and
10 about preparation for the process;
● Writing individual letters of recommendation to advocate for their admission to
colleges and universities;
● Serve as the college scholarship coordinator, helping students to research and
pursue various scholarship opportunities;
● Support students in the athletic recruiting process, including assisting students
with registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center;
● Assist students in targeting summer enrichment activities;
● Assist with managing the college representative visitation program;
● Assist with managing the UC approval process for the school’s academic program;
● Partner with the High School team to educate teachers, advisors, and students
about the college application process and best preparation for this;
● Meet the ethical standards of the college admission profession as articulated by
the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).
