Test-required, test-optional, and test-free labels tell only part of the story. Scores may be optional for admission but recommended or required for merit scholarships. A test-free policy may exclude SAT and ACT scores while allowing AP scores in holistic review, and requirements can differ by program within the same institution. This session will help counselors interpret these distinctions, put published score ranges in context, and guide students beyond blanket submission rules. We’ll also consider what emerging federal admissions-transparency efforts, including the Admissions and Consumer Transparency Supplement (ACTS), could signal about changes ahead. CCEP Code: ETST
