This informative session will provide high school counselors with an overview of what community college bachelor’s degrees are, why they were created, and who they are designed to serve. Participants will learn how these programs complement traditional university pathways, reduce barriers to bachelor’s attainment, and create new opportunities for students – particularly those who are place-bound, cost-sensitive, or seeking applied career pathways. The session will also highlight how counselors can support students and families in understanding when a community college bachelor’s degree may be a strong option.
Presenter: Shelly L. Hess, Ed.D, Dean of Instructional Services at San Diego Community College District
