Taskforce on Independent Educational Consultants (IECs) Executive Summary
In January 2014, the Executive Board of the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC) convened a special Taskforce on Independent Educational Consultants (IECs). The WACAC Board convened this taskforce in response to several recent and significant developments related to IECs who are also WACAC members. Our working group consisted of school-based counselors, college admission officers, and IECs. Our goal was to survey all 1700+ WACAC members to learn their opinions about the role WACAC should, or should not, play in specifically supporting our IEC members
The Taskforce findings and recommendations to the board were presented at the WACAC Annual Conference June 2014. The Executive Summary of our work is presented here.
