The Language Access Committee has been incorporated into our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Committee.

Community-Based Organizations 2020-2022
Chair: Jenny Uribe, Cristo Rey High School, San Jose

CBO members make up about 2% of WACAC’s Membership. The committee is dedicated to ensuring CBO members are well represented within the organization as their expertise in college access is deeply aligned with WACAC’s mission. In the 2020-21 cycle, we worked with current and former CBO members to better understand their needs, which resulted in offering free membership to CBO members. Moving forward, the committee will focus their efforts on increasing CBO representation within the membership and the board, as well as providing the support and resources needed to thrive within the organization.

Independent Education Consultants 2019-2021
Chair: Stacy Kadesh, Stacy Kadesh and Associates College Consulting

The goal of the IEC Ad Hoc Committee was to increase awareness of the important role IECs play within the college application and decision process. Members emphasized the importance of collaboration between all WACAC members and advocated for free membership for Public School Counselors. Active during the “Varsity Blues” scandal, the committee, in conjunction with the lobbyist, helped WACAC take a position on the proposed Varsity Blues legislation and educated members from all sides of the desk about the work of IECs and how they regulate their own profession. In addition, the committee worked to increase the number of sessions relevant to IEC members at professional development events. IECs remain a committed source of volunteerism within the organization.
