The Director of Marketing designs, manages, and executes marketing strategies, tactics, and campaigns that support the College’s revenue-generating initiatives; undergraduate, transfer, and graduate recruitment; and brand management.

Under the leadership of the of the Executive Director of Enrollment Management and Marketing, the Director of Marketing will work to ensure that the Marketing team’s vision and strategic initiatives are carried out effectively.

In addition to providing leadership in the areas of paid advertising campaigns, social media, publications, and editorial content, the Director of Marketing will be the primary team member in charge of web strategy and multimedia, providing expert consultation, leadership, training, and project management for the continuing development and maintenance of Whittier College’s web presence, recommend new web tools and features to support the institution’s strategic objectives, as well as work to support and enhance the programs and mission of Whittier College in general, and the Office of Innovation and New Ventures in particular.

The Director of Marketing will supervise the production of high-quality and innovative videos, graphics, photography, slideshows, audio, etc. to help reinforce Whittier’s brand and strategic direction. The Director of Marketing will oversee all video production and post-production working with students and staff from other departments on campus.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
Exempt Status: Exempt
Full Time/Part Time status: Full Time
Salary Range: $75,000-$80,000 annually; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.
Reports to: Executive Director, Enrollment Management and Marketing
Location/Department: This position is located in Whittier, CA and requires an in-office presence at least three days per week.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties for the Director of Marketing will include the following:

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns to generate enrollment and revenue for higher education programs that include, but are not limited to undergraduate and graduate education programs, skilled-based certificate programs, and online learning programs.
  • Serve as the primary project manager for campaigns and projects for which the Office of Marketing is responsible.
  • Develop a strategy to integrate the various marketing and communications tools used by the College to ensure that institutional goals are reached.
  • Provide regular data analysis and insight through which campaigns are evaluated and decisions can be informed.
  • Develop and lead the integration of strategies across the campus, working with and building support from various departments and external agencies to move the College’s mission forward.
  • Serve as the primary architect, manager, and advocate of College-wide web strategy. Collaborate, plan and execute the Whittier College website design, navigation, layout, and user experience including graphics, video, audio, hierarchy and architecture.
  • Develop multimedia content for use on College website, print publications, electronic channels and social media program.
  • Lead the development of web-based electronic communications, forms, vehicles, and other tools as needed to support key institutional initiatives, including those pertaining to fundraising, recruitment, student services, alumni relations, and others.
  • Oversee the Office’s student employment program, helping to develop and execute meaningful professional opportunities for students.
