In support of Undergraduate Admission (UA) efforts to meet annual new student recruitment and enrollment goals, the Assistant Director position demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and an advanced level of expertise in all areas of international undergraduate admissions as it relates to evaluation of freshman and transfer applicants. Additionally, the incumbent has a strong foundation in the evaluation of complex world-wide international educational systems. The individual must have a good understanding of evaluation of applications for international students and will be a leader in the annual international applications evaluation process. This expertise is acquired through experience in admissions and additional training and knowledge in the evaluation of credentials from foreign institutions. The position serves as a resource to other admission staff in Undergraduate Admission, including other evaluators, admission services staff, recruitment specialists, for issues related to international evaluation and other complicated problems related to admissions.

The Assistant Director also represents UCLA and Undergraduate Admission to internal and external constituents involved in the recruitment and enrollment of domestic and international undergraduates to UCLA. This involves counseling and advising of general public by conducting both in-person and virtual recruitment and yield operations for prospective and admitted students and their parents, high school and community-college counselors, representatives from other universities, faculty, and administrators on admission-related issues; and participation in various outreach activities such as high school and community college conferences and meetings. This position involves significant amounts of travel, predominantly internationally.
