Under the direction of the AVC EM, the Director of Admissions is the Chief Admissions Officer, and is responsible for the campus-wide undergraduate admission of both domestic and international applicants. The Director, through direct or indirect leadership, oversees all undergraduate admissions functions such as applicant file review and evaluation, first-year/high school outreach & recruitment, data/systems management, transfer initiatives, and day-to-day operations.

The Director manages and evolves strategy to achieve a variety of outcomes through data analysis; an understanding of the local, national, and global landscape; and a highly collaborative understanding of the institution’s strengths, potential, and people. They leads a team of 40+ FTE’s including six direct reports, and more than 200 part-time employees including external readers and college ambassadors/tour guides. The position has budget responsibility of approximately $6 million annually. In collaboration with Admissions Senior Leadership Team, the person in this role develops short- and long- term goals and strategic plans for maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of University of California and UC San Diego undergraduate admissions policies.
