About BigPicture College Planning
We are a boutique educational consulting company that assists students from all over the world in successfully applying to secondary school/ boarding school, college, and graduate school. We support each student throughout the entire process, while encouraging their growth and happiness as individuals and helping them acquire critical skills for their future that extend far beyond our work with the student.
The Educational Consultant + Outreach and Media Specialist is responsible for coaching and guiding a group of students through high school and the successful completion of the college application process. Their guidance may also include applying to graduate school. The role requires the individual be highly organized, equipped at gathering and managing relevant documents, taking detailed session notes, updating the student’s file and action items regularly, as well as following up on relevant items outside of the session. The role requires a great deal of independent work. The individual must also exercise the ability to teach college essay writing and showcase strong writing and editorial skills. Training and professional development will be required. The role will also work on special projects in the community and establish outreach with specific communities and schools, including planning and facilitating information sessions and workshops. Marketing and media responsibilities will include creating and or updating branded content, web content, social media, and other items as needed.

Strong analytic and innovative thinking necessary to think outside the box, propose strategies, and fully understand the unique and distinct characteristics of each student.
Ability to work effectively in a small organization and build strong relationships with a variety of constituents including students, parents, teachers, coaches, school leaders, and co-workers.
Experience providing counseling or guidance to high school aged students.Exceptional project management skills with strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Motivated, kind, patient, and compassionate.
Flexible scheduling and willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of our students and the company.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE
At least 2 years of progressive professional work experience in a college admissions officer, a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and three strong professional references from related positions. * Strongly prefer candidates with advanced degree and 4+ years related experience.
COMPENSATION, BENEFITS, AND HOURS
BigPicture is committed to equity and transparency for our team and offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience and education. The compensation range for this position is $48,000 – $60,000. The position is on average 30 hours per week. Some travel will be required in and around Los Angeles likely 2-3 days per week. Other days the position will require work from a home office or quiet space with strong wifi. Anticipated schedule M/W/F 11am- 6pm T/TH 1:00-5pm Some Saturdays or Sunday (one or the other – approx 1x per month) for 2-3 hours.
Paid holidays include: Thanksgiving, 1st day of Passover, Christmas eve, Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and MLK Day.
Paid Time Off: 12 days per calendar year.
