Albus Brooks is formerly the director of the Issachar Center for Urban Leadership, which develops leaders for 4 years of their academic career through service, study, and spirituality. Through a partnership which Albus Brooks helped organize with Mile High Ministries and the Living Legacy Foundation, Issachar apprentices earn a full-ride college scholarship and an opportunity to reach their potential.

In 2010, Albus Brooks took time away from Issachar to help then-Mayor John Hickenlooper become Colorado’s governor. He served as Hickenlooper’s Outreach and Political Director and managed the campaign’s field and constituency outreach operations, ensuring that every Coloradan’s voice was heard and learning from one of Denver’s great leaders before returning to Issachar.

Albus Brooks’ work at Issachar stems from a desire and commitment he has to make a difference in the lives of our youth. After graduating from college with a B.A. in Religious Studies, Albus Brooks realized a deep need for transforming the lives of kids in the district, Albus Brooks developed Young Life’s first organizational chapter in North East Denver and served there for eight years

Albus Brooks’ success mentoring kids stems from a work ethic he has carried with him all his life. As a young man growing up in California, Albus Brooks’ hard work separated him as a leader on the football field. He was named an All American Blue Chip player and recruited to the University of Colorado. At CU, Albus Brooks continued to set himself apart. Sports Illustrated named him to a list of the Top 10 Hardest Hitters and the National Football League took interest before injuries ended his career.

But it is District 8 where Albus Brooks feels most at home. He lives in Cole with his wife Debi Brooks, and their three young children, Makai, Kenya and Kaya.

Now, as the Councilman for Denver’s most diverse district, Albus Brooks is called to connect diverse communities, and to fully represent all of the residents of District 8. With a focused vision for a better district, Albus Brooks is determined to bring positive change.  His office will be working closely with a District 8 non-profit, Engage 8, in an effort to engage, mobilize, and empower the residents of the district. With a genuine heart for the City of Denver, and a love for its residents, Albus Brooks is a servant leader dedicated to making Denver a better place.
