The Emery “Dean” Walker award was established to honor one of the co-founders and first presidents (1967-70) of the Western Association of College Admission Counselors (WACAC).

Emery served from 1959-63 on the NACAC Executive Board; and was president of the National Association in 1961-62. The Emery Walker Award is presented to a college level admission officer who has five or fewer years of experience in the profession and has shown an active interest in WACAC by serving on WACAC committees, volunteering to help with WACAC conference, events, fairs, etc. and a dedication to serving the needs of students.
